To Do List
To Do List Before Closing
The
acceptance of a contract is only the beginning. There are separate and
distinctively different requirements for both the Buyers and the Sellers.
- Plan your move early. Contact moving companies as soon as possible.
This is especially true in the summer months or when you expect to move
around holidays.
- Plan & hold a garage sale and/or donate items to local thrift shop
or Salvation Army.
- Enter into a purchase agreement for your new home if you haven't
already done so.
- Buyers inspections will be performed as soon as possible and
buyer's lender will have appraisal performed.
- Buyer's walk-through, if included, will be done prior to the
closing.
- Notify everyone of change of address. Utility companies, security
service, post office, telephone company, friends, relatives, creditors,
magazine and newspaper subscriptions all need to know of your change of
address. Don't forget to also notify your bank/mortgage company in the
event your mortgage payments are being debited electronically.
- Medical and dental records should be picked up, if the move is
long-distance.
- Don't pack Teddy! If a mover is packing for you, be sure that items
important to family members are excluded.
- Pack and vacate by the closing date.
Coping with the Move
Families leave memories, friends, relations and activities. And while
most of these can be replaced by new friends, memories, and activities,
the move becomes no less traumatic.
Kids & Pets Get Stressed Too!
Kids and pets feel the stress as much (and sometimes more) than adults.
You'll be busy attending to details but kids worry about making new
friends, losing everything that is familiar to them and starting over.

Pets get upset with moving too. A little consideration will help them
adjust to new their surroundings, too. For more information on moving with
